Two days before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the region, a fierce gunfight broke out early Friday morning in Jammu between security officials and terrorists near an army base. Officials said the shoot-out resulted in the deaths of two terrorists, one security officer, and four others. Security personnel conducted a pre-dawn operation in Jammu’s Sunjwan cantonment sector, which sparked the conflict. According to the authorities, terrorists were planning an attack on the city.
