
On Tuesday evening, a college bus crashed head-on with a private bus near Sankari in Salem district, injuring up to 40 people, including 12 college students. The victims were sent to public and private hospitals in Salem and Edappadi. Three passengers are thought to be in serious condition.
According to the Edappadi police, a private bus carrying 30 passengers was travelling from Edappadi to Sankari. Similarly, a private college bus from Tiruchengode’s KSR Educational Institution was carrying 55 students to Edappadi via Sankari.
The buses collided as they approached the Kozhipannai bus stop on the Edappadi-Sankari route.
A police officer stated, “Private bus driver P Arunachalam, 42, of Edappadi, C Chinnakannan, 60, and college bus driver P Karthikeyan, 32, of Mettur received brain injuries.”
