
An official said that a Tamil Nadu-based journalist and a woman doctor from Maharashtra were killed and 13 people were injured when their vehicle fell into a deep gorge on their way to Gangotri.
According to District Disaster Management Officer Devendra Patwal, the vehicle, a tempo traveler, fell into the 100-metre-deep gorge late Sunday night near the Kopang bend.
According to the official, the deceased were Alka Bote, a woman doctor from Aurangabad in Maharashtra, and Kartik Madhavan, a journalist from Coimbatore who worked for The Hindu.
The military hospital in Harshil is treating all 13 injured people.
