
The searing heat in Delhi persisted on Sunday, with the highest temperature reaching 49 degrees Celsius in the national capital. The temperature reached 49.2 degrees Celsius in Mungeshpur, northwest Delhi, and 49.1 degrees Celsius in Najafgarh, southwest Delhi, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The maximum temperature at Delhi’s base station, Safdarjung Observatory, was 45.6 degrees Celsius, the highest so far this year.
According to the IMD, the maximum temperature recorded in the Observatory that day was five degrees above average. The lowest temperature measured 25 degrees Celsius.
