
According to the Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, the severe cyclonic storm ‘Asani’ is expected to continue north-westwards until Tuesday night, reaching West central and adjoining Northwest Bay of Bengal off the beaches of North Andhra Pradesh and Odisha.
Heavy rainfall (7-11cm) is very likely to occur at one or two locations over the districts of Gajapati, Ganjam, and Puri, according to the Meteorological Centre. Light to moderate rainfall is very likely to begin from Tuesday (May 9) evening at numerous sites over coastal Odisha districts.
According to the weather agency, fishermen are advised not to enter into the deep-sea area over the central parts of the Bay of Bengal on May 9-10 and over the Northwest Bay of Bengal on May 10-12. Fishermen who are out at sea should return to shore by the morning of May 10th.
