By defeating Nick Kyrgios, Novak Djokovic captures his eighth Wimbledon championship and 21st Grand Slam.

With a four-set triumph over Nick Kyrgios on Sunday, Novak Djokovic won his seventh Wimbledon championship and 21st Grand Slam title. Despite a strong start, Kyrgios’ challenge quickly fell apart.

Top seed Djokovic triumphed 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, 7-6 (7/3) to break Roger Federer’s eight-title men’s record and tie Pete Sampras’ seven-title mark at the All-England Club.

In the all-time rankings, the 35-year-old Serbian is now one Slam in front of Federer and one behind Rafael Nadal’s record of 22 majors.
