Cattle price skyrockets ahead of Eid in Pakistan. The prices of the sacrificial animals have surged ahead of Eid-ul-Azha as the cattle’s have been infected by a viral disease all over the country.
The Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD) has been noticed in cows, buffaloes, goats and bulls.
This disease has killed hundreds of cattle’s and thousands are seen affected severely across Pakistan.
This disease was first detected in Punjab and had spread to the animals recently this year. This disease has been transmitted by sucking insects and ticks.
Pakistan has set up huge livestock markets, ahead of the Eid-ul-Azha in July 9, but, the people are afraid of buying them as the infection has surged over Pakistan.
Due to the LSD, the prices have inflated, as the traders also want to cover up their loss from the infected and dead livestock.
Currently, the price of 10 to 15 kg goat or sheep ranges between Rs.35000 to Rs.50000, whereas the price of the cow or buffalo weighing 100 kg ranges from Rs.1,30,000 to Rs.1,50,000, while 200 kg buffalo or cow ranges from Rs.3,00,000 to Rs.3,40,000.
The sheep and goats are in demand as the price is little lower than the buffalo and cow. And the people are going for shares in one buffalo and cow so they can get an equal meat share and also they get to pay fair price.
