P Chidambaram, a senior Congress leader, said on Thursday that Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has called on the planets to save the economy after losing faith in her own and her economic advisers’ abilities.
His jab at Sitharaman came after she retweeted images from NASA’s new powerful space telescope on Tuesday.
“We are not surprised that the Finance Minister tweeted images of Jupiter, Pluto, and Uranus on a day when inflation was 7.01 percent and unemployment was 7.8 percent,” Chidambaram wrote on Twitter.
“After losing faith in her own abilities and the abilities of her economic advisers, the FM has summoned the planets to the economy’s rescue,” the former finance minister said.
To begin, she should appoint a new “CEA: Chief Economic Astrologer,” according to Chidambaram.
The Congress attacked Sitharaman on Wednesday, saying she is more interested in Uranus and Pluto than in steering the country’s economy toward recovery.
