Covid infections surged by roughly 41% on a daily basis, with 5,233 new infections.

On Wednesday, India reported 5,233 new Coronavirus cases, up 41% from the previous day, as infections spread across multiple states.

Maharashtra led the way, reporting 1,881 new coronavirus cases Wednesday evening, an 81 percent increase and the highest number since February 18.

One case of B.A.5 variation was also discovered in the state, according to the state health agency.

There were 1,242 new cases in Mumbai alone, nearly quadrupling the number on Monday.

There were no new Covid-related deaths reported during the day.
