Following his re-election, French President Emmanuel Macron expected a pleasant welcome, but was left red-faced after a tomato attack. Someone apparently flung a bunch of tomatoes in Macron’s direction while he was chatting to a small audience in a food market in a French town.

One of the tomatoes almost missed Macron, prompting his security officers to yell “projectile.” The French president was then shielded from the tomato attack by security staff who opened a special umbrella.
