For the first time in 109 days, daily Covid cases are expected to exceed 10,000.

Daily Covid cases in India were set to surpass 10,000 on Wednesday, the first time in 109 days since February 26, thanks to an increase in detected infections in many states, particularly Maharashtra, where cases increased 36 percent in a day to 4,024.

By late Wednesday night, India had reported 8,641 new cases of the virus, with data from a few states still pending. Kerala was one of these states, with more than 1,950 instances reported in the previous seven days. According to the TOI’s Covid database, 8,828 new cases were recorded in the country on Tuesday.
