
The price of petrol and diesel has been increased by 80 paise per liter, concluding a four-and-a-half-month period of rate revisions. In Delhi, petrol costs Rs 96.21 per liter, up from Rs 95.41 earlier, and diesel costs Rs 87.47 per liter, up from Rs 86.67 previously.
The rate increase comes after a 137-day rate freeze. Since November 4, prices have been frozen in anticipation of assembly elections in areas such as Uttar Pradesh and Punjab.
In Mumbai, petrol and diesel would cost Rs 110.82 and Rs 95.00 per liter; in Kolkata, Rs 105.51 and Rs 90.62; and in Chennai, Rs 102.16 and Rs 92.19 per liter.
