
Prices for essential medicines such as pain relievers, antibiotics, and anti-infectives are set to rise beginning in April, with the government allowing an increase of more than 10% for the scheduled drugs.
On Friday, India’s drug pricing authority approved a 10.7 percent price increase for scheduled drugs, which are subject to price controls. This is the maximum allowed price increase. Over 800 drugs on the National List of Essential Medicines (NLEM) will see price increases beginning in April.
