President of Sri Lanka Gotabaya Rajapaksa made a telephone call with Russian President Putin, seeking help for fuel supply in this economic crisis.
Rajapaksa tweeted that, he had a productive tele call with Putin and he thanked his government for the support in the past.
The western countries have stopped importing fuels from Russia, over the invasion of Ukraine. Since then, oil prices have raised globally, prompting other countries to seek support from Russia.
Since Sri Lanka is facing an economic crisis with the shortage of fuels, the schools have been closed, employees have been asked to from home and only the essential vehicles are running, the fuel shortage has made the Sri Lankan government stop running. Russia is giving hand to Sri Lanka during this critical period.
