In response to claims made by Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, military leaders told the National Security Committee (NSC) that the US had threatened or was involved in a plot to destabilize the PTI government.
Following Imran Khan’s meeting on March 27, the NSC issued a statement in which it expressed serious concerns about the cable’s non-diplomatic language, claiming it amounted to interference in Pakistan’s internal affairs.
Even Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri cited the NSC statement in his opposition to the National Assembly’s no-confidence vote. PM Imran also claimed that the National Security Council (NSC) agreed with the government’s position.
