In a terror funding case, a Delhi court on Wednesday sentenced Yasin Malik, one of the most prominent separatist leaders in Jammu and Kashmir, to life in jail, stating the offences were meant to strike at the “heart of the notion of India” and to violently separate J&K from the Union of India.
The NIA’s request for capital penalty was denied by Special Judge Praveen Singh, who gave Malik various jail terms for offences under the strict anti-terror law–Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) and the IPC.
