Prime Minister Narendra Modi received the 1st ‘Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Award’ at a stunning ceremony in Shanmukhananda Hall here on Sunday evening.
Modi did not sit on the dais; instead, he sat in the front row of the crowd and walked onto the stage when his name was called, as he had desired, to accept the honor as a commoner.
Almost the whole Mangeshkar family was in attendance, as were Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari and Minister Subhash Desai, although Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray was reportedly absent because his name did not appear on the formal invitation.
