In Tamil Nadu’s political landscape, there is a virtual scramble for opposition space, with the Pattali Makkal Katchi joining the fray.

On Friday, PMK president Anbumani Ramadoss stated that the PMK is the “true opposition party” in the state. He added on the sidelines of a meeting with party functionaries in Salem that while the BJP was a major party nationwide, it was still a minor party in Tamil Nadu. “Some claim the BJP’s popularity has risen in the state. That isn’t correct. In Tamil Nadu, the BJP is still a small party,” he told reporters.
