Before the start of the 15th season of the Indian Premier League, Mahendra Singh Dhoni has handed over the captaincy of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to Ravindra Jadeja (IPL). The announcement comes just two days before CSK takes on Kolkata Knight Riders in the season opener at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Dhoni has led CSK to four trophies in his 12 years as captain, after being hired as the team’s symbol player in the inaugural season in 2008. CSK became the league’s most consistent franchise under Dhoni’s leadership, qualifying for the playoffs in all but one season.
MS Dhoni has chosen to hand over the captaincy of the Chennai Super Kings to Ravindra Jadeja, the franchise announced in a statement.”Jadeja, a key member of the Chennai Super Kings since 2012, will take over as the team’s third captain.”
