On Monday, India condemned the killing of civilians in Bucha, Ukraine, at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), calling for an independent UN investigation.
Speaking at a United Nations Security Council (UNSC) meeting called by this month’s Council President, the United Kingdom, India’s Permanent Representative to the UN (UNPR), T S Tirumurti, called the reports from Bucha, India “unequivocally” condemned the killings but did not blame Russia for the civilian deaths.
Several other UN Security Council members also called for an investigation into the killings in the Kyiv suburbs, where bodies were discovered after Russian forces withdrew, some with their hands tied behind their backs and appearing to have been shot at close range. Earlier this week, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres called for an independent investigation.
