
India detects the new BA.2.75 Omicron subvariant.
World Health Organization (WHO)said that India has detected a new sub-lineage of the omicron variant of the coronavirus. Covid- 19 has increased 30 % in the last two weeks.
BA.4 and BA.5, the new variants are driving in other countries like Europe and America.
WHO chief scientist, Soumya Swaminathan shared a post on Twitter saying that- BA.2.75 was initially detected in India and later in other 10 countries, and added that, there are still limited sequences that are available to analyze, but the subvariant has been found to have mutations so it is still too early to know that, that the subvariant has properties with the invasion of immune or in severity, and they are still monitoring she added. She said that the emergency will be decided at any time so, she has asked the communities to continue wearing masks in crowded places and maintain social distancing.
This new subvariant has been detected in 83 countries, where India has maximum new covid cases followed by Thailand and Bangladesh.
WHO incident manager has said that the pandemic is still not over, we are in the middle of the pandemic, and the virus has a lot of force to leave as the virus are having few mutations, and it is obviously impacting the individuals and their families, as it requires an extra burden of health in the society. But the action is needed globally to face this challenge he said.
