Indian Test vice-captain Jasprit Bumrah described all-rounder Axar Patel as a great asset to the team, saying that a match-fit Patel is an automatic pick for any team because he offers value not just with the bat and ball, but also in the field. After recovering from a shin injury, Patel was recalled to the Indian side for the second Test against Sri Lanka. He was unable to participate in the South Africa tour and the West Indies series at home, but is expected to be included in the Bengaluru Test XI. As Patel joined the team, wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav was released.
“Axar has been a huge asset to the team; he helps with the bat, bowl, and field, and he’s always willing to pitch in.”
