MUMBAI: Over 100 Covid-19 admissions were recorded in the city on Sunday, the biggest single-day number in more than four months. In Mumbai, two people died, both of whom were under the age of 40 and had comorbidities. The city’s optimism rate remained high at 11 percent.
New detections, however, did not show a significant increase over Saturday in either the state or the city. On Sunday, the state recorded 2,946 incidents, a slight increase over Saturday’s 2,922 but still far short of the 3,000-mark set last week. In Mumbai on Sunday, 1,803 cases were registered, up from 1,745 on Saturday. In June, the state reported nearly 23,500 (23,491) cases, nearly 15,000 of which were from Mumbai. Mumbai’s doubling rate has dropped to 513 days as a result of the rapid increase in cases.
