President Macron and Prime Minister Modi have both called for a “immediate stop to the suffering” of Ukrainians.

India and France called for a “immediate cease of hostilities” in Ukraine on Wednesday, but Prime Minister Narendra Modi remained silent on Russia’s invasion of its neighbor.

India, which imports much of its military gear from Russia, has long walked a diplomatic tightrope between the West and Moscow, refusing to criticize or vote against the latter at the UN for its activities in Ukraine.
