Experts have issued a warning about the emergence of a new strain of Omicron variant in the United States. Despite a drop in instances and hospitalizations, major states in the US are rushing to lift COVID-19 limitations. BA.2, which looks to spread 30% more easily, has captured 3.9% of infections. According to a National Public Radio article, BA.2 has soon surpassed the original Omicron in South Africa and other nations, causing a second Omicron boom in Denmark. Infectious disease specialists warned that the same thing may happen in the US, prompting concerns that the spread “may be on track to dramatically increase in the near future,” according to the study.
