
M.K. Stalin, the chief minister, said on Monday that he would release water from the Mettur dam on May 24 (Tuesday) for agriculture in the delta region.
He made the statement during the Secretariat’s virtual launch of the Kalaignarin All Village Integrated Agriculture Development Programme.
Meanwhile, on Monday, the water level at Mettur Dam rose to 117.28ft. According to Public Works Department authorities, the water level rose from 116.88 feet on Sunday to 117.28 feet on Monday, against a total scale of 120 feet. The dam’s water storage capacity was 89,198mcft. The inflow was lowered from 13,074 to 12,777 cubic seconds. The discharge rate was kept constant at 1,500 cusecs.
