Rahul Gandhi, the Congress leader, is often embroiled in controversy when it comes to his political excursions abroad. Earlier in his visit, the Wayanad MP maintained his stance that India is not a nation but a federation of states, despite the BJP’s outrage over his meeting with former UK Labor Party leader Jeremy Corbyn. However, Siddhartha Verma of the Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS) disagreed with Rahul Gandhi and outlined how India’s state identities are distinct.
“India is not a nation, but a Union of States,” Rahul Gandhi stated at the Ideas for India conference in London. He claimed that India is not a country, but rather the outcome of negotiations between states.
