The Union Home Minister, Amit Shah, has ruled out the possibility of establishing President’s Rule in Bengal.

When a group of party functionaries asked for President’s rule in West Bengal during a conference in Kolkata on Friday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah ruled out using Article 356. Shah met with party officials on the final day of his two-day visit to Bengal.

“The Trinamool Congress won a resounding mandate and returned to power for the third time in a row. Article 356 cannot be used to destabilize a democratically elected government. In terms of politics, we would have to confront Bengal’s ruling party “Shah reportedly stated this during a meeting with BJP officials.
