
Secretary of State Antony Blinken said the US is keeping an eye on some recent “on developments” in India regarding human rights abuses by government, police and prison staff.
Following the end of the 2+2 Ministerial on Monday, Blinken held a joint press conference with Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and their Indian counterparts, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh.
In his opening remarks, Blinken added: “We are following some disturbing recent developments in India, including an increase in human rights abuses by some government, police, and prison authorities.”
However, he did not disclose any further information.
