
On Thursday, the Election Commission will release the calendar for the presidential election in India.
To reveal the schedule, the poll panel has called a news conference at 3 p.m. President Ram Nath Kovind’s tenure ends on July 24, and a presidential election must take place before then.
The president is chosen by members of the electoral college, which includes elected members of both houses of Parliament as well as elected members of the legislative legislatures of all states, including the NCT of Delhi and the Union Territory of Puducherry.
