Officials reported that an attempt by the banned terror organization Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) to carry out a suicide strike ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit was prevented when two suspected Pakistani terrorists were killed in an encounter here on Friday, in which a CISF officer was also slain.
In the pre-dawn gunfire near an Army camp in the Sunjwan district on the outskirts of Jammu, nine security officers were also hurt.
DGP Dilbag Singh, who visited the encounter location, said the two terrorists were members of a Pakistan-based JeM suicide squad, and their infiltration may be part of a “huge scheme” to derail Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Jammu and Kashmir.
